Mentor Blogs

With creating a new blog, it is an excellent idea to have a series of blogs to look up to and draw inspiration from for your own blog. The following list is three blogs that I found that have certain qualities that I admire, and maybe hope to incorporate in my own blog.

1. The Blonde Abroad

The first blog I chose focuses on Kiki's adventures in traveling. I really admire the set-up of this blog- the visuals stand out the most. In the home page she incorporates a picture of a map, where you can click on specific country's to see her experiences there. I think that's very creative! The photos that she features are absolutely beautiful as well. Although, Kiki specializes in traveling, she also branches out into other topics she is interested in, like recipes, beauty, style, etc. I think that it's a good idea to be a versatile, and show off everything you are interested in, instead of limiting it to one category.

2. The Gypsy Nurse

This blog is by a nurse named Candy Treft, who writes about almost anything you can think of in the field of travel nursing, including agencies, licensing, interviewing tips, etc. I find this blog to be very informative and helpful, as I currently plan on going to school for nursing and hope to eventually become a traveling nurse. This blog not only talks about travel nursing, but also useful lifestyle tips, which just like the other blog, I think branching out into other categories is an amazing idea. Also, I like how simplistic the blog layout is, keeping a basic color palette. With it's simplicity, it makes the blog easy to navigate.

3. The Recipe Critic

This blog is by Alyssa Rivers, and is your typical food blog. There is a huge selection of recipes to choose from for any type of occasion or meal. They layout and organization is what I admire most from this blog. There is a lot of recipes to look at, but this website is able to organize them in way where it is not too overbearing. I also like how the recipes do not include an essay long introduction about pointless stories from the author. It gets straight to the point, giving useful tips on how to make the dish even better.
